CARAVAN STORGE TIPS
Purchasing your own caravan is a great investment and will give you many happy enjoyable moments on holiday. In the off season, you may want to store your caravan away, somewhere safe like an IStore storage unit. This is a great idea, but it’s imperative you take steps to prep your caravan so it stays protected.
CLEAN ALL AREAS INSIDE THE CARAVAN
Wipe down all surfaces in the caravan and hoover the floor. If dust and dirt is left, dust mites and bacteria can be left to multiply. Clean the fridge out and remove any food, so bugs or unwanted pests are not attracted. You also don’t want to return to your caravan and find mold growing on old food!
CLEAN AND THOROUGHLY DRY THE OUTSIDE OF THE CARAVAN
Wash down all areas on the outside of your caravan with a soapy car detergent. Avoid using dish soap as this can strip paint off. Thoroughly dry off the caravan and while you do this, check all the window seals and any other areas that may need repairing.
PROTECT YOUR CARAVAN WITH A COVER
Invest in a breathable caravan cover to keep your caravan cool and protected.
KEEP AIR CIRCULATING
If you can, ensure air vents are left uncovered so air can still flow through the caravan. This will avoid stale and stuffy smells building up for when you next use it.
DO MECHANICAL CHECKS
Disconnect the battery while your caravan is in storage, otherwise it could be drained down when you return. Check your tyres before storage and you can even jack the caravan up if you intend to store it for long periods, which will take the pressure off the tyres.
